Barbara Granger

Barbara A. (Thompson) Granger passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 10, 2012. She was 79 years of age. Barbara was born in Everett, Massachusetts on January 23, 1933 to the late George & Eva (Kelley) Thompson. She lived in Everett for a few years and then moved to Melrose, MA in the first grade, where she graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar & St. Mary’s Girls High School. Barbara graduated from Regis College and taught kindergarten in Everett before getting married and raising her 5 children. Mrs. Granger lived in numerous places throughout her life; Scituate, Springfield & Wilbraham, MA, Potomac MD, Oklahoma City, OK, Allentown, PA, Reisterstown MD for many years, Libertyville, Il, Toms River, NJ and then in Timonium, Maryland the last 13 years. Barbara was a Bridge Life Master and enjoyed playing bridge no matter where she was living. She traveled extensively with her husband Paul, loved her trips to Cape Cod and to Loon Mountain in NH to visit her family and had an infectious smile, a great laugh and wonderful sense of humor. She cherished the time spent with her family and grandchildren and will be sorely missed by all that knew her. Barbara was a devoted wife to Paul F. Granger. A loving mother of Nancy Cormier & her late husband Michael in Montana, Susan Thomas & her husband Bill Oakland, MD, David Granger & his wife Kim of Owings Mills, MD, Mary Landry & her husband Ed of Hunt Valley, MD and Christine Coyne of Towson, MD. Cherished grandmother of Christopher, Katie, Cooper, Drew, Maddie, Zak, Michael, Aidan, Finley and Ellie. Beloved sister of Phyllis Chagnon of Concord, MA, George Thompson & his wife Anne of Milton, Charlotte Nault & her husband Tim of FL and the late Elinor T. Gately. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 York Rd., Towson, MD on Friday from 4:00-8:00PM, followed by at Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Texas 100 Church Lane, Cockeysville, MD on Saturday at 11AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Barbara’s favorite charity St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148
