On Tuesday, January 1, 2013, Joan passed away peacefully at home. She fought a battle with cancer for over three years. She turned 75 in December. A daughter of John and Irene (Costa) DoCanto of North Providence, RI, Joan and her husband (a retired engineer from Bethlehem Steel) moved to the Baltimore (Reisterstown) area in 1960. In 1981 the family moved to Towson where Joan began working at Blue Cross. She retired from Blue Cross as a billing specialist in 1998. She was a member of the Sparrows Point Country Club where she enjoyed playing bridge and golf. She was an Orioles, Baltimore Colts and Ravens fan. She enjoyed being a part of her grandchildren's lives. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Joseph J. Travisano, three sons, Joseph J. Travisano, II (Donna), Jack Travisano (Laurie), Jeff Travisano (Debbie), two daughters Jody Escobar (Miguel), Jill Ceroll (Warren), 12 grandchildren, a sister, Irene Barlow of Pawtucket, RI and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the RI area.
Friends may call at the family-owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 York Road (at beltway exit 26) on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday at 10:00 AM. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
