Died: November 10, 2013

On November 10, 2013 Cheryl-Lee Howard (nee Howe); beloved wife of James G. Howard. Devoted mother of Alyssa L. Vigliante and her husband Vincent; loving grandmother of Vincent and Zachary. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.


Mrs. Howard was Assistant Provost , University Research Projects Administration, Johns Hopkins University, and the fifteenth recipient of NCURA’s award for Outstanding Achievement in Research Administration – NCURA’s most prestigious award recognizing significant contributions to the profession of Research Administration, as evidenced in ways such as publications, presentations, teaching, mentoring and service to one’s home institution/organizations or outside organizations. Cheryl-Lee has been involved in university administration for more than 40 years, over 30 of which have involved research administration. She is known throughout the research administration community as extremely knowledgeable and a provider of outstanding leadership and service to NCURA, her institution and beyond. Cheryl-Lee has served as NCURA Treasurer, President, on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Finance and Budget Committee, Nominating and Leadership Development Committee, Professional Development Committee, and Treasurer of both Region I and Region II. Cheryl-Lee was also the recipient of the 2007 Distinguished Service Award and involved in the Council on Governmental Relations, the Association of University Technology Managers and the Federal Demonstration Partnership. She was also previously employed by Dartmouth College and Brandeis University.


Friends will be received at the family owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 York Road (beltway exit 26) on Thursday 6-8pm, and again on Friday 12:00-1:00pm, at which time a Memorial Service will be held. Inurnment Private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society 8219 Town Center Drive Nottingham, MD 21236.
